Point of View

I’ve wanted to create a true third person cam, that was attached to my snowcat, for some time. Finally, I’ve done it, so the first beta release of my game can’t be far away anymore :-).

Implementation details: My first thought was having the camera as a ball that was attached with a joint to the snowcat. Using the joint, you could turn it around the thing. But first of all, I couldn’t get this to work at all, the ball would just fly around randomly and drag the vehicle with it. Second of all, if you compare this to how other games do things, nobody needs it. So I decided to stop this plan and went with the new way: The ball now has a set location on the snowcat where it tries to fly to. The current location of the ball is the camera origin, the camera is set to look at a point slightly above the snowcat.

Watch it!
