Collaborative Map Competition Project Announced!

Race with 16 stages, each Mapper makes one stage - Important restrictions

Forum - A new mapping project has been announced. Sixteen mappers will create a single terrain square of a small map. Those will then be combined to form a single map.

The rules allow for much freedom, as long as the participants add no player spawns (except for testing) and neither place objects outside their area or modify the heightmap outside their area. A flat piece of elevated track that must not be moved will be present to connect different squares. The same restriction applies to modifying the texture. Global aspects, like the sky, fog settings or water attributes will be set by the officials.

In order to reduce the time needed for mapping, only fifty static objects are allowed per square. Applications for the squares will be taken shortly. It is also expected that a forum post with the detailed official rules is about to be made.

Observers assume that the unique combination of tight technical limits, but no limitations concerning the actual topic of the square, will make for some very interesting pieces.

The Alfa Romeo 8C Competizione, in a specially developed red

Alfa 8C Competizione at Paris motor show

Paris - Alfa Romeo announced that the 8C Competizione will be built in a strongly limited quantity. The car, first shown at the IAA 2005 in Frankfurt/Germany, is a high-performance sports car with a power of about 450 Hp (332 kW). Official performance data is not yet available, but in tests the car achieved less than 4 seconds from 0 to 100 km/h (60 Mph) and more than 320 km/h (200 Mph).

The styling is inspired by classical Alfa Romeos, such as the Gulia TZ, the Typo 33 Stradale and similar. It shows clearly how a car can look good, fast and powerful without the need for Need-For-Speed-like wings and inlets in every corner. All in all, this is a car that would be nice to see in Interstate in the future.
